Electropolishing

We provide high-quality surface treatment that removes fine irregularities, welding discoloration, and burrs, combining gloss and cleanliness.

Toyo Rika Chemical Co., Ltd.'s electro-polishing is a surface treatment technology that achieves a high-smoothness and high-gloss finish by electrolyzing the metal surface in an electrolyte solution and selectively dissolving fine protrusions. It does not require physical polishing processes like buffing, allowing for uniform and highly reproducible treatment. This technology removes surface irregularities, burrs, and welding discoloration, providing not only aesthetic beauty but also practical effects that prevent dirt adhesion and corrosion. Furthermore, a strong oxide film is formed after treatment, enhancing the corrosion resistance of the metal and maintaining high quality over an extended period. Our company supports various stainless steel parts, including SUS304 and SUS316, and has a proven track record in various industries such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment parts, medical devices, food machinery, analytical instruments, and precision parts for research applications. We have established a system to provide high-quality finishes with short lead times for products that require cleanliness, durability, and aesthetics. Our high-precision, high-quality electro-polishing is the ideal solution for companies looking to enhance the added value of their products.

Basic Knowledge of Electrolytic Polishing That You Can't Ask About Now

Highly praised for training and study sessions! A guide that explains the basics of stainless steel and surface treatments (electropolishing, fluororesin coating).

The 'Confidential Notebook Full of Information on Stainless Steel and Surface Treatments (Electropolishing and Fluororesin Coating)' is a document that introduces the electropolishing and fluororesin coating of stainless steel and stainless containers used by Nitto Metal Industry. Regarding stainless steel, we explain the symbols SUS304, SUS316, and SUS316L. Our company manufactures containers from these stainless steel plates, primarily providing them to pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as cosmetics, food, and chemical manufacturing companies. For electropolishing, we present the methods for electropolishing the stainless steel (SUS304, SUS316L) we use, as well as the characteristics demonstrated by the electropolishing process. Additionally, concerning fluororesin coating, we explain the characteristics of fluororesin coating and the selection of materials. *This document is available for immediate viewing via [Download].

Surface treatment processing SUS steel coloring treatment

Let's change the world's "values" together through the coloring of stainless steel products!

○ What is stainless steel oxidation coloring? It is a technique that changes the thickness of the stainless steel oxide film to create interference colors (light and a transparent thin film) through passivation (oxidation film), where a participating film exists on SUS material, and when viewed, the colors appear to change like a CD due to light refraction. ○ The establishment of new coloring technology has doubled corrosion resistance and contributes to the enhancement of color decoration and identification in products across various fields. ○ Even the same product can change its impression if the color changes. → This leads to a departure from commoditization. ○ Creating a new category leads to differentiation in brand awareness.

What is electropolishing? What is Super Shiner A2?

A clear explanation of the differences between denken and electropolishing, as well as passivation and other related topics!

The method commonly referred to as "Denken," which is performed by our hometown processing partners by default, differs from "electrolytic polishing." However, the effect of "improving corrosion resistance" is the same. First, "Denken" refers to "Super Shiner A2," which is produced by Chemical Yamamoto Co., Ltd. The slogan for Super Shiner A2 is "SUS304 achieves corrosion resistance comparable to SUS316." So, why does using Super Shiner A2 improve corrosion resistance? The key phrase is "ultra passivation." *For more detailed information, you can view the related links. For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.*

Precision Electrolytic Polishing

High precision, high purity, high durability. Precision electrochemical polishing that meets the quality standards of semiconductor manufacturing.

The precision electrochemical polishing of Toyo Rika Co., Ltd. is a high-precision metal surface treatment technology that simultaneously achieves high smoothness with a surface roughness of Ra = 0.02μm or less and excellent corrosion resistance due to a Cr-rich layer. It realizes uniform smoothness and cleanliness that cannot be obtained through cutting processes, making it particularly suitable for stainless steel fluid components and precision mechanical parts. This technology removes fine irregularities at the nano level without applying processing stress, thereby enhancing aesthetics and functionality while avoiding deformation and processing scratches. Furthermore, it can accommodate thin tubes, inner surfaces, and complex-shaped parts that are difficult to polish with buffing, providing a highly uniform finish. The application fields are diverse, including gas supply system components and chamber parts for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, medical devices, food manufacturing machinery, analytical instruments, and scientific equipment, boasting many achievements in environments where cleanliness, durability, and reliability are required. Our company designs optimal processing conditions according to shape and application, and also supports process management, quality control, and traceability. We provide precision electrochemical polishing with stable quality from small lots to mass production.

Electrolytic Polishing EP

Electropolished finish that enhances the sanitary properties and corrosion resistance of stainless steel containers.

The finishing of each series is typically done with a standard buff polishing finish, except for some products, but electropolishing is possible to enhance sanitary properties and corrosion resistance. Electropolishing is a method that smooths the surface of stainless steel by chemically and electrically dissolving metal ions from the metal surface in an electrolytic solution. This results in a uniform and high-quality finish. Electropolishing can be applied to almost all parts that come into contact with liquids, including containers and sanitary components.

Stainless steel coloring technology

Stainless steel breaks away from the fixed concept of being silver! A technology that allows stainless steel to be colored.

The "stainless steel coloring technology" is a technique that creates interference colors (light and a transparent thin film) by changing the thickness of the oxide film on stainless steel. Since there is an oxide film on SUS material, the color appears to change due to the refraction of light, similar to a CD, allowing for a change in the color of the stainless steel itself, unlike traditional coloring methods. We have established a new industrial coloring technology that reduces color variation between lots, which was not possible with conventional techniques, and combines it with a new method that is expected to reduce color unevenness compared to traditional coloring methods. 【Features】 ■ A technology that colors the stainless steel itself ■ Improved decorative and distinguishable color tones ■ Can double corrosion resistance ■ Planned to be available in over 20 colors ■ A film in the nanometer range that does not affect dimensional tolerances *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Technical Data: Corrosion Resistance of Electropolished Stainless Steel

One reason is that the corrosion resistance improves after electropolishing.

Electropolishing is widely used as a finishing process for stainless steel not only because of its excellent luster but also because it improves corrosion resistance after electropolishing. By electropolishing, the altered layer and temper scale caused by prior machining are removed, along with contaminants on the surface (such as debris and dirt from processing), resulting in a cleaned surface. Additionally, through electropolishing (anodic dissolution), a thin oxide film is formed on the surface, creating a passive film. This passive film has a higher chromium content than the base material (the stainless steel substrate), resulting in a coating with good corrosion resistance. Furthermore, by eliminating surface roughness, it becomes more difficult for debris and dirt to adhere to the surface after electropolishing, which also contributes to improved corrosion resistance.
